The British Association for Print and Communication

The British Association for Print and Communication, or BAPC, is the association which looks after the interests of companies who are involved in the printing industry and communication industry and they help to represent and promote these companies as well as maintain standards within the industry. Organisations such as the BAPC are able to provide advice and information as well as training to those who work in these industries and feel in need of some guidance.

Belonging to an association which represents your particular industry can be very beneficial and rewarding for you. Working in any industry or profession can be hard going and stressful and so it can be reassuring to know that there are many other people and companies doing the same thing and that it is possible to get advice and go to dedicated training events to increase your success. Associations often have their own award events to reward businesses for their achievements and to highlight the successes within a particular sector or industry. The BAPC give a range of awards to companies for different criteria. An example of their awards is the ‘Product of the Year’ award which in 2010 was awarded to Duraweld for their ‘Build Your Own’ service which lets customers design their own products such as custom ring binders, document boxes and tax disc holders, and have them manufactured to their own requirements and specifications.

Belonging to an association that represents your particular interests and industry allows you to keep up to date with what other companies and businesses within your field have been doing and presents opportunities to interact with these other businesses and perhaps exchange ideas. If you are starting out in a particular industry then joining an association for that industry can help you to get any relevant training that you may need and can help to point you in the right direction and ensure that your business venture succeeds. An organisation such as the British Association for Print and Communication can prove to be a vital resource for small companies who might otherwise struggle to be seen or to make headway in the industry. Not all businesses are international multi-million pound ventures and they need to know that there is help and guidance available if it is needed. Associations can not only help you with how your business is run but also help to draw interest to the industry as a whole through various means and create links with other corporations.

Joining a relevant association can lessen the feeling that you are on your own and provide you with a support network that you can rely on for advice knowing that the association works in your interest and is promoting your business. It is always pleasant to be awarded for your achievements and for the hard work that you have put in so it can make a real difference if you receive an award from an industry association; being given an award shows that your work is recognised and commended by others.
