Duraweld’s paper over board range has received a three-fold boost. An investment in new machinery, the development of new products, and an extensive training program for staff have all focused around this growing product category.

As recently as three years ago Duraweld was known as the plastic stationery specialist, with the focus solely on vinyl and polyprop stationery.  How things change!

Recognising the demand for stationery with creative finishes, but smaller runs, we made a logical step to apply our 40 years of expertise in stationery to a different manufacturing technique. It has proved a great hit with customers, with double-digit growth in demand.

Customer Focus

One of our values is “No-one tries harder for customers”, and that’s why Mark Yeung, Director, has been sending out emails to every customer whose goods are despatched, inviting feedback.

We have been overwhelmed by the responses, and sharing them with the team has been an incredibly positive experience.  We thought we’d share with you some examples, and would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has responded.  Keep it coming; we’re always keen to hear about your experiences, good or bad. When it absolutely positively has to be there…

We understand that for our customers, confidence that they will get their goods on time is one of the most important factors in choosing a supplier.  That’s why one of the KPIs we measure religiously is the proportion of deliveries that are sent On Time in Full (OTIF).

KPI 4

Duraweld’s OTIF deliveries chart

We are so confident we can deliver in this area that we’re willing to share our management KPI with our customers.  Our OTIF deliveries for the last quarter stands at 99.65% – that’s a result to be proud of!

Waste Not Want Not

northstead school“Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” is a common mantra in waste-reduction circles.  Although Duraweld recycles its scrap, where we have stock or materials that can be reused this is an opportunity to both benefit the environment and the community.  We have recently made donations of obsolete stock or products to a number of local and regional organisations such as Hull Scrapstore, Westborough Scout Group, Basics Plus, Northsted School and the Starr Carr archaeological dig.

Care In The Cold

icy 1

Perhaps an over dramatic representation of the cold?

Over winter, the cold weather can cause plastic to become hard and brittle.  So much so, that the material may actually crack or split if knocked.

This effect is called ‘cold crack’ and the possibility of it happening rises when ring binders, or other plastic stationery are left in cold temperatures for an extended period of time.  As the binders chill, the risk of them breaking when dropped or knocked in transit increases.

How we help combat the issue: (more…)
